This Assam is from the Meleng Estate in India. Meleng is one of the oldest tea estates in the region and takes its name from the nearby River Meleng which runs close to the estate. It also borders a world heritage Gibbon sanctuary.
The tea is a first flush tippy Assam with a bright liquor and a rich malty sweetness reminiscent of roasted plantains and dark fruit. It finishes with a brisk astringency.
A really fine example of an Assam tea from India.
