Rare with Complex Flavours

Golden Monkey (Paw)  is a rare black tea from the Fujian Province in South East China who’s leaves are said to resemble Monkey paws.  Each spring this tea is harvested by selecting only the bud and first leaf of the new flush.  These leaves are then hand processed to give a distinctive pale gold threading.  The result is a complex black tea with notes of spiced apples, cocoa and honeyed peach.  This special black tea can be enjoyed in multiple infusions, and is also noted for its lack of astringency.

Wow! I love this tea. Not sure I could drink it regularly as it’s very rich, but it’s got a wonderful flavour. I always drink black tea with milk (sorry), so perhaps that’s why I didn’t get any of the spiced apple or honeyed peach, but the cocoa flavour is wonderfully rich without being too sweet. I think this has to be my favourite luxury tea, one to impress friends with.
